Book Selects Fahrenheit Among World’s Best Music Site Designers
Studio’s artful design and branding work for musicians is highlighted and exemplified
LOS ANGELES, CA—April 2, 2007—Fahrenheit Studio, a new media design and 21st century branding firm, today announced that it has been selected by influential, high-end art book publisher Taschen (2006, $9.99), for inclusion in its new book, Web Design: Music Sites— the best online music resource. The internet has become a major player in today’s music market, especially thanks to iTunes. From online purchasing to great artist sites to recording companies, labels, ringtone sites, online radios, and more, Web Design: Music Sites edited by digital media specialist, Julius Wiedemann, is the essential guide of the best music sites with real life case studies.
Fahrenheit is included among the most prominent interactive studios worldwide for their web design on behalf of Virgin Records artists: Juliet, Sharissa, Dwele and Hope Partlow, which is showcased on four pages of the 192 page book. Colored screenshots from each of the Fahrenheit designed portals are included in the collection of best designed music sites, as well as information on the particular style and feel, the tools used, cost spent and awards received. Last year, the studio was also featured in Taschen’s ICONS Web Design: Best Studios book.
“We are honored to be selected by Taschen and included in their ICONS series again, but this compilation is particularly close to our hearts because of our dedication to creating innovative, artistic and intimate sites for popular musicians,” said Fahrenheit creative director Dylan Tran. “What’s especially humbling is that this is a book designers buy to see what other designers are doing in the field and it’s great to have our work among them.”
Music sites are often pretty standard in their layout and stylistic approaches with a set navigational scheme. Fahrenheit’s methodology to branding music sites, however, is not to just choose a design style and go for it, but to approach the marketing and positioning of an artist like any other product or company.
“We really try to understand the artist we work with by listening to their music and carefully considering their audience as we come up with creative concepts that speak directly to their listeners while also being aligned with the artist’s own story and personality,” said Bob Weitz. “As the web becomes more and more crowded, being distinct will become more important. If you want to stand out from the crowd, you need great design and great production values.”
Fahrenheit has also worked on projects for artists such as The Rolling Stones, Joss Stone, Korn, Ben Harper, KT Tunstall and the main Virgin Records site, delivering distinctive high quality designs that stand out in the crowded web.
